04Background

Ma’at is the KMT (Kemetic/Egyptian) goddess of truth, justice, righteousness, divine order, cosmic order, balance, and harmony.  The purpose of Ma’at is to divert chaos (Isfet).  She is depicted with wings of her special animal-the vulture, and the feather of truth in her headdress.  She also carries an ankh which represents the key of life, and sometimes a scepter.  Kmt or Kemet is the ancient name for Egypt which means land of the Blacks.
